"Wild Cove" - Twillingate - Newfoundland .........Time Travel
Click here to go directly to "Wild Cove Commissioned Painting" opportunity Let's embark on an imaginary journey together. It's around the year 1948. All is hustle and bustle in the little community of Wild Cove, Twillingate Island, Newfoundland. Is that, little Wild Cove, or big Wild Cove? Well, both actually. They are merely separated by a small jut of cliff rock shielding the pedestrians view as Hayward walks along the shoreline narrow road. Hayward hears the sound of Stuckless's vehicle coming around the mountain, coming into Wild Cove to pick up fresh butter and cream for local merchants in Twillingate. Hayward wonders how in the world the vehicle is going to get pass the two horse-and-buggy's owned by Mr. Roberts and Mr. Jenkins. The road is so narrow, neither wants to give ground. When Mr. Stuckless honks his horn, Mr. Roberts and Mr. Jenkins cautiously guide the horses slightly over the size of the road, making sure not too much to keep them from safely getting back on, or damaging the box carts. Hayward enjoys the smell of salty air and watches the horse drawn box carts proceed to the road abreast the beach in small Wild Cove. Hayward observes the bustling activity at the beach. The Stockleys & Prides are busy casting capelin near Stockleys newly rebuilt stage, previously owned by John and Billy Guy. Fred Roberts and John Roberts are also beside their stage casting capelin. Capelin are in plentiful supply this year. George Roberts, John Sheppard and John Elliott are also at the beach preparing to load their supplies of capelin in the box carts, then to be hauled to the vegetable gardens a short distance away, to be used as the main fertilizer for their crops. Hayward heads along to say hello to the children sitting on the bank by the edge of the road. The children are enjoying the day, especially now the "Wild Cove School" is closed for the summer. The children are taking in the view and watching the activities at the beach. Hayward also sees other kids down near the rocks in the beach. They are having fun playing with some live capelin which are rolling in. Hayward decides to head up over the hill to see what's happening at "Big Wild Cove".
